Public Transportation

Public transportation to the BWI Baltimore Washington Airport is affordable. In fact, two of your options is free.

1. MARC and Amtrak - Both have a free shuttle service between MARC/Amtrak station and the BWI Baltimore Airport terminal. The shuttles operate 24 hours a day and run every six to eight minutes from 5am to 1am, afterwards the shuttles run every 25 minutes.
2. MTA Light Rail - If MARC and Amtrak are out of the way, there’s always the MTA Light Rail to get to the BWI Baltimore Airport. The MTA Light Rail is run by the MDOT MTA or Maryland Department of Transit Maryland Transit Administration. The MTA Light Rail serves travelers coming from Downtown Baltimore, Timonium, and Hunt Valley. The fare costs $1.80 each way. Note that taking Light Rail is only an option Monday to Friday from 5am to 11pm, Saturday 6am to 11pm and Sunday and Holidays 11am to 7pm. Otherwise you’ll have to hail a taxi to get to the BWI Baltimore Airport.
3. MTA Bus Services of the MDOT MTA - There are bus services you can take as well. The MTA Bus Services of the MDOT MTA has the #75 bus for serving travelers needing to go to BWI Baltimore Airport. You can take the bus from Parkway Center, Arundel Mills Mall, Airport 100 Park and the Patapsco Light Rail Stop. 
4. MTA ICC - Bus services to the BWI Baltimore Airport are also provided by the MTA ICC. As this is a park and ride option, you can park at Shady Grove Metro, Georgia Avenue, Burtonsville and Arundel Mills Mall, then pay $5 to ride the 201 bus to the BWI Baltimore Airport. Seniors pay $4 while infants and toddlers get to ride for free. The ICC bus has to make stops so if you have a flight to catch, this isn’t for you. It can take roughly an hour!
5. Taxi - If public transportation is a hassle, you can take a taxi to BWI. To give you an idea of the cost, the metered rate for the first 1/10 mile starts at $2.90 then $2.50 per mile.
6. WMATA or Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority BWI Express B30 Bus - There are only two bus stops at the moment, one on the lower level of the International Concourse and the other at the lower level of Concourse A/B. This option is only available Monday to Friday 6:30am to 9:33pm.

Ride Sharing

Do you rely on ride sharing services to get to the BWI Baltimore Airport? If you’re coming from Arundel Mills Mall which is about 6 miles away from the BWI Baltimore Airport, expect to pay in the range of $17 to $22 if you’re taking an Uber. For Lyft, the prices are roughly the same for the same distance.

To keep the comparison fair, let’s say you’re coming from Linticum Heights which is about 3.5 miles away from the BWI Baltimore Airport, an Uber and Lyft will still cost you in the range of $11 to $14.
